Services and Areas of Expertise
Therapy is a sacred space, and you have my commitment to honor that in every moment that you spend with me, to treat you with respect and dignity, and to employ all my skill to help you to the utmost of my ability. I sincerely appreciate the courage it takes to engage in this work, and I know what it is like to be in “your chair” since I do my own therapy, which I know makes me a better therapist. I work with:
My approach is largely psychodynamic, meaning that I focus on helping patients understand how their family has impacted their understanding of themselves, others, and relationships. It also looks into the ways that we defend ourselves against parts of ourselves that we may not like or accept, and against being hurt by others. I also employ elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Process Therapy (IPT). Each person is different and unique, however, and so I tailor how I work to each patient, seeking to meet each person’s needs and never assuming that what works for one person will necessarily work for another.
